Suction Roll Seal Strips

Our materials are designed for this harsh environment and the excessive wear. The combination of graphite and Teflon® make our materials the lowest coefficient friction of any other material.

Our materials include ToughLON™, SMARTSeal®, Polytron® K-2, Polytron® A-2 and Polytron® P

ToughLON™ is the closest thing to Teflon® you can get in a wear material! Toughlon™ is the next advancement in materials technology and the most significant change in seal strip materials in 30 years. The homogenous material has the flexibility needed for installation and during use has shown a much longer wear life than the graphite materials.

SMARTSeal® was designed to have internal lubricity without the graphite. The material is the same basic matrix as the Polytron K-2®. The base material is durable and designed to be resistant to chemicals with excellent wear properties. SMARTSeal™ eliminates any problems of streaking on the sheet.

Polytron® K-2 has been in use since 1983 and can be found in many mills throughout the world. This thermoset material is reinforced with an aramid fiber that is vital to the strength and flexibility of the strips. The K-2 comes with the Teflon lubricator bar and has five main functions:

RAPID BREAK-IN OF THE NEW STRIPA small lip of Teflon is left above the upper surface. This lip conforms to any irregularities of the inner surface of the shell and is especially advantageous on a worn shell.NON-ABRASIVEThe Teflon along with the base material is not abrasive and will not wear the shell. The use of Teflon and graphite results in a very low coefficient of friction, lower than any material on the market.AS A WEAR GAUGEThe Teflon bars are machined to a depth of 10mm or 0.375 inches. Thus, when the roll is broken down for maintenance, the condition of the strip can be accurately measured.CONTINUAL LUBRICATIONFrom initial startup to shut down, the combination of Teflon Lubricator bar with the internal graphite assures proper lubrication.ENERGY COST SAVINGS TOOLThe Teflon bars lower the coefficient of kinetic friction between the seal strip and the suction roll, thereby reducing the amperage draw on the machine, and thus reducing Energy Costs.

Polytron® A-2 is a Polytron® material, with the qualities of the K-2, is a more budget friendly material. It is Sawyers 3rd generation of materials and has proved to be an excellent material for most suction roll applications. Just as the Polytron line of products, it is easy to install, excellent wear properties, resistant to chemicals and flexible.

Polytron® P is the Polytron® line of material with a budget price. Many rebuilders like this material as it has the qualities of the Polytron® materials and fits most mills budget. The graphite gives this material an internal lubricity.

PolyTUBE™ Airload Tubes

The Sawyer PolyTUBE™ line of Airload Tube Assemblies are made with Vincon Polyester Tubing and assembled with our special design crimp. The DOUBLE Crimp design assures no leakage while in use.

PolyPV Roll Kits

PolyPV Kits (Pocket Ventilator Kits) come complete with Strips, Rings, Wave Springs, Fasteners and all necessary items required for a rebuild.

This application is in the steam area of the paper machine.

The material used to make the components for the PolyPV Kit is the best on the market, and we can prove this by documented testimonials and years of field testing. Anyone can do their own testing, but out tests are from real world use cases documented by actual customers.

Polytron® Seal Rings

Polytron® Rings are made of a specialty material that is waterproof and durable.

The material is designed to withstand almost any type of condition. No matter if it is extremely hot to freezing cold with humid or a dry environment, Polytron can handle it. The material provides a strong resistance to wear but does not absorb liquids. It is resistant to the UV rays and can be drilled, tapped, and threaded.
